Buttery Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ Cup Flower, sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar, optional 
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) chilled butter, cubed
  • 4-8 tbsp ice water

Directions

  1. In a food processor, combine salt, sugar, and flower (and any other spices).
  2. Cut in butter until the mixture is sandy and there are no butter chunks.
  3. Add water one tbsp at a time until the dough is staying together, make sure to not add too much, or the dough will be tacky and come out not flaky enough.
  4. Work into a disk and cover it with cling wrap.
  5. Chill in the fridge for 2 hours.
  6. When ready to use, roll out on a heavily flowered surface.

Notes & Tips

  • You can add spices like cinnamon (apple pie) or garlic (pot pie) depending on what you’re making.
