Turkey Brine

Ingredients

  • ½ Gallon Hot Water
  • 1 Lb Kosher Salt
  • ⅔ Cup Sugar
  • 8 Lb Ice
  • 16 Cups (128 Oz) Vegetable Broth

Directions

  1. In a clean cooler (or any container large enough) pour in hot water, salt, and sugar until dissolved.
  2. Remove any parts inside the turkey (neck, organs, etc) and save them for gravy.
  3. Place turkey in brine breast side up and turn once if possible while brining. 
  4. Keep the temperature at 40° Fahrenheit and brine for 8 – 12 hours.
  5. Remove the turkey, rinse with cold water, and pat dry with paper towels.
