White Bread #1

Ingredients

  • 1 Pack of Instant Yeast (7 grams)
  • ⅜ and 1 ⅓ Cup Warm Water, Divided
  • ⅛ Cup Sugar
  • ½ Tbsp Salt
  • 1 ½ Tbsp butter, Softened
  • 3-4 Cups Flour
  • 1 ½ Tbsp butter, melted for brushing
  • Any desired spices

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. Dissolve yeast in ⅜ cup warm water. Let sit until bubbles form, about 5 mins.
  3. Add remaining warm water, sugar, salt, butter, and 2 cups flour and mix on a stand mixer with the dough hook until combined.
  4. Add more flour half a cup at a time until the dough is tacky.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel and leave to rise in a warm place for about an hour. The dough should double in size.
  6. Pinch down, divide, and let rise again for about an hour.
  7. Transfer to two greased bread pans and brush the top with butter.
  8. Bake for 30-35 mins or until top is golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool on the cooling rack for 20 mins.

Notes & Tips

  • You can add spices if you want during the second step. Garlic and a little parm are really good.
  • Bread lasts for 4 days on the counter and about a month in the freezer.
